April 25th, 1953 marked the discovery of DNA, which was one of the most important landmarks that opened new dimensions of understanding the basis of all lifeforms. In 1953, the outstanding work of James Watson, Francis Crick, Maurice Wilkins, Rosalind Franklin and colleagues forever etched this milestone in the path of novel and innovative explorations.
To commemorate the momentous occasion of World DNA day, the students of M.Sc Biomedical Genetics from the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore is organising the fifth series of DNA DAY on the 24th and 25th of February 2018.

Dr. Jerry Joshua, Head of TLMTI’s healthcare programme is responsible for its 14 hospitals and support to Government of India’s National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP) in four states. He has over 25 years of experience in clinical leprosy. As a plastic surgeon, Dr.Jerry has trained and mentored surgeons in the government, NGO and private sectors in surgery related to leprosy and other disabilities.
